Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care
Upper cervical chiropractic is a very focused area of chiropractic, which is designed to help the entire spine by treating the top two vertebrae in the spine.
There are 24 vertebrae in the spine that stack on top of each other. They protect the spinal cord, the spinal nerves, and allow for the body to move in many directions. The problem with this ability to move is that it increases the likelihood of becoming misaligned. Of all the vertebrae in the spine, the top two have the most movement and as a result are the most likely to misalign.
Health First Chiropractic in Puyallup has a unique way of working with the spine known as Blair Upper Cervical Chiropractic. The Blair method is a very specific system within chiropractic designed to help restore spinal health with the least amount of adjusting possible.
Upper cervical refers to the top two neck bones in the spine. A growing body of research is showing that misalignment involving these bones can cause the entire spine to become unhealthy and unstable. If left misaligned for too long a lot of health problems can begin to develop such as neck pain, low back pain, sciatica, headaches, migraines, numbness in the arms/hands fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, amongst other problems. It’s also being shown that if the upper neck can be carefully studied and precisely corrected, the entire spine and body will restore to health.
In order to diagnose a problem in the upper neck a very detailed exam and is done. If a problem is identified in the upper neck, then a series of x-rays will be taken. These x-rays allow for a custom designed correction that is different for each individual.
